Somatic Coaching

Your body's got your back.

Come explore sweet and guided space where you can take refuge in knowing that you don’t have to do it all alone. Bring your thoughts, feelings, and sensations; your stories and your struggles. Bring your needs that were never met and your longing for things to have been different. Bring along your fears, your loneliness, your grief, your dreams and your curiosities. And let us not forget about that deep well of wisdom residing in your chest. Nothing about you is wrong or broken. Let’s welcome in and embrace all that you are, all that you come from, and all that you are yearning to become.

Somatic coaching offers a gentle, body-centered approach to exploring your inner world, healing those areas of disconnect, and discovering the deeper layers of what makes you uniquely you.

"So you must not be frightened, my love, when you find yourself engulfed in a sadness greater than any you have lived through before, and when a disturbance flickers like passing light and shadows over your hands and everything you do. You must realize that something is happening to you, that life has not forgotten you, that it holds you in its hands. It will not let you fall." - RAINER MARIE RILKE

What Is Somatic Coaching?

Wherever you are on life’s path, whatever challenges you are facing, please know that life has not forgotten you. Our struggles have the potential to give rise to immense wisdom, but we have to learn to sit with our pain in order to discover its insight. Allow your pain to be an invitation toward whatever it is within you that needs a little more love, care, and attention. Experiences related to depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, discontent, longing, heartache and more arise within our being to show us that life is moving through us, and it has something important to say.

Somatic coaching works with your body's own wisdom. In sessions, I'll guide you to slow down and notice what's alive—that heat in your chest, the constriction in your belly, whatever has been quietly asking for your attention. From that listening, something begins to stir, and together, we can follow that stirring toward a deeper understanding of who you are, what you value, and what you wish to offer to both yourself and the world.

I reap inspiration from many sources, but my main matrix consists of somatic, systemic-ecological, and psychodynamic perspectives. I view the body as an ecology of parts, whose expression reveals our unconscious beliefs and motivations; whose entanglements demonstrate the ways in which personal, familial, ancestral, cultural, and cosmic narratives shape our lived experience. My work is slow and centered, and incorporates mindfulness to explore your lived experience and develop the capacity to listen to your own inner wisdom. Together, we will unearth your larger story—who you are, where you come from, and what it is exactly that you are doing here.

Who This Is For

Somatic Coaching is for anyone and can support a range of issues including:

  • Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, depressed or numb and aren't sure why

  • Seeking more depth, aliveness, meaning, and purpose in your life

  • Grief and major life transitions

  • Trauma and nervous system restoration and regulation

  • Isolation, loneliness, or feeling disconnected from your life

  • Existential crises or curiosities

  • Ecological grief and anxiety

  • Philosophical inquiries looking for embodied expression

  • And so much more...

How It Works

Sessions are laid-back, spacious, and guided by whatever feels most alive in you. We often toggle back and forth between dialogue and mindful, embodied exploration, which involves you turning inward and paying attention to whatever is happening in your body. Often, what emerges is surprising, offering some new insight, perception, or experience that your thinking mind was unable to reach. Over time, this way of listening and relating to our bodies becomes not just a singular practice but a way of living and receiving guidance from a deeper intelligence that resides within.

What to Expect

A session lasts about 60 minutes. We meet over zoom.

In a first session, we'll talk about what's bringing you here. Then I'll introduce you to the practice of turning attention inward—slowly, gently, and at your own pace. There's no right or wrong way, everything we touch in mindfulness yields valuable information. Oftentimes, an open and curious attitude will get you exactly where you need to go.

This work is best experienced through weekly, ongoing meetings. I recommend starting with 6 or so sessions to build a foundation. From there, we can move to ongoing work, check-ins as needed, or a natural completion. There is no expected time commitment, just whatever feels right.

A note about how I work

My work is deeply compassionate and collaborative where I trust you as the expert of your own experience. I value co-creation where I am just as happy to follow your lead as I am to offer guidance and direction. I incorporate mindfulness, body-centered awareness, parts work, relational inquiry, and widened worldviews to help ground and orient you throughout our journey together.
