About SallY

Sally’s vision for Soma Mundi emerged throughout her many years of study and exploration in disciplines such as psychology, philosophy, cosmology and spiritual ecologies. This multidisciplinary adventure taught her about the marvelous 13.8 billion year journey of the universe, its creation of the Earth, as well as humanity’s potential within the Earth system. This story, when told through a narrative lens, reveals its mythic dimensions, its intrinsically spiritual undertones, and most importantly, a telos that humans might lean upon to discover our species’ belonging within the greater web of life.

Against this backdrop, Sally felt the shadow side of our times. The unraveling of inherited beliefs—while necessary to expose systemic harm and open space for new perspectives—has also left many of us feeling fragmented, adrift, and unsure of where to turn. As she observed the patterns of collective consciousness, she noticed the same currents moving through her own inner life, helping her to sense how personal experience is inseparable from the larger psyche of the Earth, and each informs the other. Her desire to weave together personal and planetary psychology felt clear early on, but ultimately, it was her lived experience of deepening into her own body—feeling what longed to be felt—that enabled a meaningful sense of purpose in her life.

Sally’s explorations in somatic orientations, such as Process Work and Hakomi Therapy, helped converge her theoretical foundations with her living experience and resulted in the aha moment that most directly inspired the creation of Soma Mundi. Both Process Work, Hakomi, as well as many other somatic traditions rely on the body’s self-organizing intelligence to help guide personal healing processes. With her background in cosmology, Sally recognized that the self-organizing intelligence that moves through bodies is the same intelligence that evolves and sustains the universe. It became clear that somatic therapies were already offering the tools needed to listen to this inner intelligence and allow it to support us within our personal journeys. The missing piece, however—or rather, the next emergent step—is in widening our intention for listening. We listen, not only to nurture our personal psychology, but also to hear the wisdom that might guide us back toward right relationship with the Earth and our planetary community.
