Somatic Coaching
Your body's got your back.
Wherever you are on life’s path, whatever challenges you're facing, please know that life has not forgotten you. Our struggles have the potential to give rise to immense wisdom, but we have to learn to sit with our pain in order to discover its insight. Allow your pain to be an invitation toward whatever it is within you that needs a little more love, care, and attention — the tension you can't explain, the patterns you can't think your way out of, the sense that something wants to shift but you don't know how, feelings associated with depression, anxiety, hopelessness, grief, longing, and heartache — all of it and more arise within our bodies to show us that life is moving through us, and it has something important to say.
Somatic coaching is a gentle, body-centered approach to the places within that need your care. We work with what's actually happening in your body — sensation, breath, subtle impulse — to find the intelligence that seeks to weave you back into the web of life.

"So you must not be frightened, my love, when you find yourself engulfed in a sadness greater than any you have lived through before, and when a disturbance flickers like passing light and shadows over your hands and everything you do. You must realize that something is happening to you, that life has not forgotten you, that it holds you in its hands. It will not let you fall." - RAINER MARIE RILKE
What Is Somatic Coaching?
Most of us live from the neck up. We analyze, plan, and try to have it all figured out—and yet, we still end up in the same loops. That's not a failure of willpower. It's a signal that the change you're looking for lives deeper than thought.
Somatic coaching works with your body's own wisdom. In sessions, I'll guide you to slow down and notice what's alive—that heat in your chest, the constriction in your belly, whatever has been quietly asking for your attention. From that listening, something begins to move, and together, we can follow it toward a deeper understanding of who you are, what you value, what you wish to offer to others.
This approach is rooted in Hakomi, a mindfulness-based method that uses present-moment body awareness to access the beliefs and patterns running beneath the surface. It's not talk therapy. It's not exercise. It's a kind of careful, curious attention that lets your body's intelligence show you what it's holding—and gudie you toward where it wishes to go next.
Who This Is For
You don't need any experience with bodywork, therapy, or meditation. You just need to be willing to get curious.
Somatic coaching can help if you:
-
Feel anxious, overwhelmed, or numb and aren't sure why
-
Have a lot of insight about yourself, but still feel stuck in the same patterns
-
Keep hitting the same walls in relationships, work, or creative life
-
Want support around nervous system regulation
-
Feel disconnected from yourself — going through the motions but not quite in your life
-
Sense there's a deeper purpose or direction in you, but can't quite reach it
-
Are navigating a major transition and want support that goes beyond strategy
-
Want to get at the root of things and find more meaning, purpose, and beloning in your life
How It Works
Sessions are quiet, spacious, and led by what's actually present in your body.
We begin with whatever you're bringing—a stuck place, a question, a feeling you can't name. Then, after a little bit of talking, we will slow down together, you can close your eyes if that feels right, and we will begin to notice what's happening inside.
You might notice a heaviness in your chest. A pulling in your belly. An impulse to move, or to be very still. We follow whatever it is that shows up—not to fix, but simply to listen.
What often emerges is surprising: a memory, an emotion, a clarity that your thinking mind hadn't reached. The body holds our history, our habits, and our intelligence. When we learn to listen, it becomes a remarkable guide.
Over time, this isn't just something that happens in session. It becomes a way of being in your life—more present, more responsive, more connected to what actually matters to you.
What to Expect
A session lasts about 60 minutes. We meet over zoom.
In a first session, we'll talk about what's bringing you here. Then I'll introduce you to the practice of turning attention inward—slowly, gently, and at your own pace. There's no right or wrong way, everything we touch in mindfulness yields valuable information. Oftentimes, an open and curious attitude will get you exactly where you need to go.
This work is best experienced through weekly, ongoing meetings. I recommend starting with 4-6 sessions to build a foundation. From there, we can move to ongoing work, check-ins as needed, or a natural completion. There is no expected time commitment, just whatever feels right.
A note about how I work
I reap inspiration from many sources, but my main matrix consists of somatic, ecological, psychodynamic, and cosmological perspectives. I view the body as an ecology of parts, whose expression reveals our unconscious beliefs and motivations; whose entanglements demonstrate the ways in which personal, familial, ancestral, cultural, and cosmic narratives shape our lived experience. My work is slow and centered, and incorporates mindfulness to explore your lived experience and develop the capacity to listen to your own inner wisdom. Together, we will unearth your larger story—who you are, where you come from, and what it is exactly that you are doing here.
This is the ground my work grows from. You don't need to share that framework to benefit from sessions, and I am always happy to share more if you're interested.
